It is very easy to walk in the flesh and obtain desired outcomes based on human philosophy. And this aspect of life has caused so many injuries in the spiritual life of humans. Some, as a result of immoralities by covetousness. And they have not considered the implications either to themselves or their generations.
God spoke to Moses
2 “If a person sins and commits a trespass against the Lord by lying[a] to his neighbor about what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or about [b]a pledge, or about a robbery, or if he has extorted from his neighbor, 3 or if he has found what was lost and lies concerning it, and swears falsely—in any one of these things that a man may do in which he sins: 4 then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall [c]restore what he has stolen, or the thing which he has extorted, or what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or the lost thing which he found, 5 or all that about which he has sworn falsely. Luke 19:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
Actually, Jesus didn’t instruct him but his conscience was disturbed.
Another case study; the Israelites after crossing the red sea and were not comfortable due to insufficient foods and spoke against God and Moses. And they are bitten by a fiery serpent from God. But later came back to Him and confess their sins..
8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
Numbers 21:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
Likewise, Jesus emphasized the above verses and declared..
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should [a]not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:14-15 New King James Version (NKJV)
